Before i directly address the question about the pills, let me ask another question: Can people die inside the matrix? Clearly they can and do. The matrix mimics physical reality. If a character is shot inside the matrix, he or she will die. If not, Trinity would not have to run away from the agents. The matrix exists inside the brains of the people connected to it. For them, it is real. If they take a pill that, within the matrix, causes them to have a heart attack and die, then, apparently, the matrix rejects them. They are removed and disposed of, within the matrix, and outside of it in the physical world.
Relate this to the Telephone Exchange reading. If a message was sent to the person locked inside the dark telephone exchange, telling him that he had died, what would he think? Even if he had not died, he would have reason to accept it as truth, since everything he had ever experienced had come through telephone messages. If the message also told him that he would no longer receive any messages from outside, due to his death, he would believe that this was evidence that his death had, in fact, occurred. Whether he had physically died or not.

my question.... why does they need to pick up the phone to escape? or why if they are on danger they dont disconect them from the matrix easily?
how does the red pill works?
